I believe that when we are brought to our senses of whimsy and wonder, we become open to personal, emotional, and spiritual insights. Visual art is one of the most powerful ways of bringing a person into that sense. I am interested in using my art to explore notions of the inner realm, such as emotion, identity, and relationship with the self. Growing up on Northern Vancouver Island, I was provided with an endless supply of artistic inspiration in the natural world around me. When I moved to Montreal to study visual art at Concordia I was provided with the tools to apply that artistic inspiration. I am now putting into practice all that I have learned as an artist. Through painting, drawing, stop-motion animation, and now tattooing, I get to spend every day attempting to express the ineffable beauty that flows through the veins of this universe and all people.

Iris Moore is a north island-born artist and living in on Lekwungen territory (Victoria, B.C). She works in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, stop-motion animation, and tattooing. Iris has worked as a professional artist for six years, in which time she has shown her work internationally, and received 11 awards from 4 different countries. She incorporates whimsical imagery into her work in order to evoke the imagination, and bring people into their sense of wonder. She believes that by engaging with inspiring imagery, we have the capacity to become more receptive to insight, wisdom, and curiosity, and she strives to encourage this with each piece she creates.
