Lauren Anderson

Lauren Anderson is writer, director, and producer working in scripted and unscripted television, the stage and audio. She is passionate about creating works that surprise, entertain, and explore emotion and heart amidst the unexpected.

She holds both a Master of Film and Television (Narrative Directing) and a Master of Screenwriting from the Victorian College of the Arts. Her short films have screened around the world and won numerous awards including Best short film at MQFF and a nomination for the Iris Prize. Her comedy TV pilot WEBOCRACY won the 2016 AWG New Writers’ Script Competition, while her drama screenplay FUR was a quarter finalist in the 2017 BlueCat Screenplay Competition. Lauren has regularly worked in the writers' rooms of Guesswork Television since 2017 and in 2018 undertook a Film Victoria funded writers’ placement with EndemolShine Banks.

Lauren regularly collaborates with writer Meegan May, and together they wrote award-winning comedy short THE GINGER CONSPIRACY and a short theatrical work for Theatre Works ATHENA, HUNTRESS OF MEN as part of Green Room Award winning SHE IS VIGILANTE program in 2019. Their first full length play, THE COUNTDOWN, is currently being developed with support from Theatre Works and Creative Victoria. Both Lauren and Meegan were recently selected to take part in Co-Curious’ STORIES FROM ANOTHER AUSTRALIA initiative.

Lauren’s has written for animated comedy series KITTY IS NOT A CAT and is the currently a creative producer on the AACTA and Logie award winning AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR.

Her queer sci fi comedy audio fiction series, STARSHIP Q STAR, launched in Dec 2022, is topping charts around the world. You can check it out at starshipqstar.com/listen

Co-writers, co-creators, co-wives.
Collaborating since 2017, in love since 2018 - together Lauren & Meegan have written the award-winning comedy short THE GINGER CONSPIRACY and a short work for Theatre Works as part of the Green Room Award winning SHE IS VIGILANTE. Their first full length play, THE COUNTDOWN, was developed as part of a residency with Theatre Works.

Their creation STARSHIP Q STAR was shortlisted for the AWG / Audible Podcast writing competition and receiving funding from Creative Victoria and the City of Melbourne, and they were both recently chosen to take part in Co-Curious’s STORIES FROM ANOTHER AUSTRALIA initiative.

As showrunners for STARSHIP, Lauren and Meegan have overseen the entire process from idea development to production and post.
