Biography

Mathilda Piehl started filming when she was going to document an LGBT conference in Johannesburg in 2007. She started interviewing several of the participants and followed them and filmed their everyday life and thoughts. The material then became the film Are You a Girl or What? which has been screened at film festivals around the world. The Kuchus of Uganda is her second film. Mathilda works with international projects at RFSL and is editor-in-chief of the magazine Kom Ut.
