Bilal is a queer muslim genderfucker who writes plays, acts sometimes, directs and facilitates collective community-centered creations. Bilal’s first play Acha Bacha had its world premiere in February 2018 at Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto, and has since been translated in French where it was workshopped at Le CEAD in Montreal, after a ten-day translation residency in Tadoussac, Quebec in June 2018. An excerpt of Bilal’s newest play, Kitne Laloo Yahan Pey Hain will be presented in May 2019 at Soulpepper as part of RARE Theatre’s Welcome to my Underworld project. Bilal is a playwriting mentor to several queer and trans emerging writers and facilitates programs that are dedicated to helping young women and trans feminine folks of colour access their creative voices for both The AMY Project and the Paprika Festival. Bilal also facilitates writing workshops for predominantly newcomer youth in under-resourced communities across Toronto through an organization called Story Planet, and will be facilitating anti-Islamophobia workshops in high schools through the Rivers of Hope collective. Bilal is one of the founding members of acolourdeep.ca, an online platform for queer and trans South Asians to connect virtually or in person.

Baig stars as Sabi Mehboob, a non-binary millennial trying to balance their roles as a child of Pakistani immigrant parents, a bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore and café, and a caregiver to the young children of a professional couple.
