Biography

Stefano Gonzalez is a trans Latinx producer originally from New York, where he taught video production to high school students. After moving to the Bay Area, Stefano completed his MFA in Motion Pictures & Television and has since helped to garner numerous awards at film festivals around the world. His short script, How To Kill Someone You Hate, won Best Short Film and Best Directing awards at the 2014 Epidemic Film Festival. Do They Fit?, a coproduced short film, was an official selection of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. ​ Working professionally within the film industry for 8 years now, Stefano's resume includes work on Insecure (Season 5), Matrix Resurrections (2021), and Samsung Galaxy Unpacked (2020). In 2017, Stefano founded Transgress Studios LLC, a film and video production company designed to transcend repetitive narratives and uncover stories untold. That same year, his company produced it's first feature film, TRANSFINITE, a sci-fi omnibus film composed of seven standalone short stories where supernatural trans and queer people of color use their powers to protect, love, teach, fight and thrive. TRANSFINITE was an official selection to over 20 film festivals worldwide and is currently available on Amazon USA, Amazon UK, LESFlicks,Reel Women's Network, and Vimeo. ​ In addition, Transgress Studios' commercial work includes collaborations with musical artist Be Steadwell, and organizations such as Covenant House CA and Sonoma Valley Community Health Center. ​ Stefano's credits include producer, writer, director, actor, and voice actor. He has previously served on the board of directors for the Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County and wrote the first TDOR Proclamation for the city of Richmond, CA. Mr. Gonzalez is known for traveling but has planted his roots down in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, stepson, and dogs Buster and Scooter.

Stefano Gonzalez is a trans Latinx Producer originally from the suburbs of Long Island, New York. While completing his BA in Broadcasting and Mass Communications, he discovered his passion for filmmaking. He moved to Brooklyn and began teaching film production to high school students while making his own promotional videos for local talent. In 2008, Stefano decided to follow another dream he had since childhood: move to California. After a year of settling into the San Francisco Bay Area, Mr.Gonzalez enrolled in the Academy of Art University, where he completed his MFA in Motion Pictures and Television. Besides making 6 of his own short films, Stefano's credits also include writer, director, producer, actor, voice actor, and assistant director. His short script, How To Kill Someone You Hate, won Best Short Film and Best Directing awards at the 2014 Epidemic Film Festival. Rebel Child, directed by Juan Davis and co-produced by Stefano, won Best Emerging Artist award at the 2015 Pictoclik Film Festival in San Francisco. Another coproduction, Do They Fit?, was an Official Selection of Cannes Short Film Corner 2016. In late 2016, he created Transgress Studios LLC, a film and video production company designed for the everyday client to receive customized production services in an affordable package. Soon after, Gonzalez signed on with director Neelu Bhuman to produce his first feature length film, TRANSFINITE, an omnibus story where supernatural trans and queer people from various cultures use their powers to protect, love, teach, fight and thrive. Transgress Studios, with the help of 13th Gen and Tina D'Elia casting, put together a wonderful ensemble cast and crew primarily made up of trans people of color. The ground-breaking film was officially selected to over 20 film festivals around the world and is available on Amazon USA, Amazon UK, LESFlicks, Reel Women's Network, and Vimeo. Mr. Gonzalez resides in California with his wife, her son, and his two dogs.
