Mickey’s work focuses on the exploration and experimentation of gender transgression and, more specifically, gender as an inexplicable, varied, profound, and intricate experience. Mahoney’s films, videos, performances, and photography traverse the abstruse landscape and language of gender, both in the body and within and across culture, using humor and narrative to disrupt, refigure, and complicate understandings of gender and sexuality. Mahoney is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Film, Video, New Media, and Animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Adjunct Faculty in the Television Department at Columbia College Chicago.
