Biography

Kiley May is part of the Hotinonhshón:ni confederacy, Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) nation, and belongs to the Turtle Clan. She's from Six Nations of the Grand River territory and now rooted in Aterón: to (Toronto) - a city-minded Rez Girl at heart. Kiley is a two spirit transgender, queer multidisciplinary artist and storyteller - a writer, author, actor, screenwriter, producer and director. Her acting training includes the Centre For Indigenous Theatre, the Miriam Laurence Acting Studio, The Dirt Underneath Acting Studio with John Gordon, and The Lighthouse Acting Studio with Angela Besharah. Kiley has a recurring role as assistant pathologist River Baitz on the hit CBC show Coroner, also available on The CW. She has also appeared in IT Chapter Two, Woman Dress and The D Cut. Through her activism, educating, public speaking and involvement at ACTRA and InsideOut, Kiley is committed to representation, diversity and inclusion. As a screenwriter, director and producer, she creates scripts and roles for Indigenous and transgender women, focusing on positive, empowering and authentic portrayals, including representation and narratives for 2SLGBTTQQIAAP+ identities and histories. Kiley is most recently one of the winners of The Magee TV Diverse Screenwriters Award, presented by the Toronto Screenwriting Conference. Eva Thomas is mentoring her in developing her first tv series, T*W*A*T*S, a trans woman of colour-centred action revenge fantasy. As well, she is the recipient of the 2021 imagineNATIVE & Charles Street Video Residency. She's currently producing her Transamorous Trilogy of short films with her production company, Braided Sisters Productions.

Kiley May stars as River Baitz, the Coroner Bureau’s pathology assistant, in The CW’s new drama “Coroner.” River is a thoughtful, well read trans woman well versed in pop culture and the key to making the autopsy suite run smoothly. May is a two spirit trans actor, artist and storyteller. She is Hotinonshón:ni Mohawk from Six Nations reserve and now calls Toronto home. May studied acting, singing, dancing and playwriting at the Centre for Indigenous Theatre. She also enjoys other creative pursuits like creative writing, singing, burlesque, piano and photography. May is also involved in political education and awareness work with her public speaking, workshops, facilitation and training in the areas two spirit, Indigenous LGBTQ, LGBTQ, transgender and gender communities, identities and histories.
