Biography

Raúl Abner Samrah is an entrepreneur, educator and producer noted for his experience in film and entertainment industries. He is also co-founder of Filmes Casa, an independent film production company based in San Juan and Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Raúl Abner has numerous experiences in audiovisual production, particularly working as producer, assistant director and production coordinator for short and feature films, music videos and local commercials. He has gained recognition after working behind his first project, "SAM", a transmasculine short film which was screened at the Director's Guild of America at OUTFEST Los Angeles. It was also awarded the Audience Award for Best Short at Puerto Rico Queer Film Fest 2018. His latest short film, "Papo Amor", won three awards at the Festival de Cine Europeo 2019, including notable Jury Prize. Many of his short films have screened internationally, including film festivals at New York, San Francisco, Trinidad and Tobago, Copenhague, Peru and Colombia.
