The Salt Mines follows the lives of homeless Latina transvestite and transsexual prostitutes Giovanna, Sara, Gina and Gigi whose drug addictions have left them living in the decommissioned garbage trucks decaying in the bleak dumping grounds where the New York City Sanitation Department stores snow-melting salt.
