I am SO thrilled to share that I wrote, directed & produced two new 16mm short films:
Salacia, a 6-minute looping film, and Mary of Ill Fame, a 25-minute short.
Executive produced by Keanu Reeves, the films are set in 1836 and follow Mary Jones,
a personal hero of mine who was a black trans sex worker and outlaw making her wayward
way out of no way in New York City.
Inspired by the black fantasy/ folktales that raised me, specifically The People Could
Fly by Virginia Hamilton, both films take place in Seneca Village, the free black
community in Manhattan that was demolished to create Central Park.
